Our History
The Central Valley Youth Chorus was founded in Modesto, the heart of California’s Central Valley, in August of 2023. This project was born from the vision of three local women: Polly Vasché, Beth Holtan, and Chelsea Foy. Their goal was to create a vibrant and enduring organization which would enrich the lives of children and the broader community through the power of choral music. Fueled by passion for the arts and children, CVYC is a goal that has become a reality very quickly, with mere weeks from the founders’ first meeting to the forming of a nonprofit and enrollment of singers. CVYC is not the first of its kind in the Central Valley, but follows in the footsteps of several former local children's choral ensembles, drawing inspiration from these wonderful organizations.
Our Founders
Polly Vasché, Beth Holtan, and Chelsea Foy foster a collective love for music which was rooted in their personal experiences with music programs in Stanislaus County and beyond. They each benefited immensely from such programs during their own childhoods and young adult lives, developing strong musical foundations that now serve as the cornerstone for CVYC. These founders share a common belief that choral music has the unique potential to transform lives, instill discipline, foster teamwork, and build character in young individuals.
